The recent dry weather we’ve had has revealed the outline of some old fortifications at Tynemouth Castle.

When viewed from the area of the keep, the dry grassed area shows the line of walls that once protruded in a triangular shape from the front of the castle towards Tynemouth Front Street. This was in place until the early 20th century and was perhaps built in the 17th century, but difficult to confirm.

It would be great to find out more information about this since it appears on a few survey maps.
