Sunderland v Aston Villa 1895 – Art 🖼️

This painting, showing the last minute goalmouth scramble, is the oldest depiction of an Association Football match in the world. At the time, Villa were league champions and Sunderland were the league leaders, going on to win the First Division that season. The match took place in 2nd January and ended 4-4.
