Victoria Bridge over the River Wear – Art 🚂

This magnificent railway viaduct between Penshaw and Washington opened on 2nd June 1838, the day of the Queen’s coronation. Standing 130ft high and 810ft long, it was one of the largest bridges in the world and built from locally quarried Penshaw sandstone.
