North Shields 173 – Wilkinson’s air raid shelter disaster explored

A single bomb from a lone enemy aircraft destroyed the public air raid shelter in the basement of Wilkinson Lemonade Factory on 3rd May 1941.

107 men, women and children were killed in one of the worst single bomb death tolls during the blitz of WW2.

This book tells the story of that night and pays tribute to those lost.
